The cover includes all equipment, machinery, motors and other fitted accessories that may be damaged or stolen. The watercraft are covered whether in the water or on shore and whether being used or transported by sea, air or road. The craft must be used by you or by someone with your permission on inland or coastal waters if cover is to be applicable.

The craft are compensated for at reasonable market value. The insurance cover also includes salvage, finding the craft, repatriation costs to the nearest South African border, and medical expenses up to R2000 per incident. The policy also provides cover for a third party provided that the incident involved the craft that forms part of the insurance policy. This excludes water skiers who can be insured separately and must be stated and paid for in the policy under water skier liability.

The cover does not include possessions of the people making use of the craft, the trailer, (which must must insured separately), accidental death or injury, using the craft for business purposes, faulty repairs, latent defects or launching, confiscation by a legal authority, incorrect transportation, pressure waves, aircraft or aerial devices or objects dropped from them. Other factors which are not covered include piracy, sails damaged under certain circumstance, if the craft is left unattended for more than 12 hours, no fire extinguisher, navigating under the influence, unregistered mooring among other things. It is necessary to check the details of your policy to have a good idea of all exclusions.
